Week 19: I’ll be back after lunch…

I’m taking a vacation (and no, no one is subbing for me because I just decided this). I don’t like thinking about anything today. Actually, I really don’t like thinking all that much. I think it’s overrated. See what I mean. I’m going to be on vacation listening to Diana Ross sing the theme from Mahogany and Adam Green sing Emily and reading Mafalda comics to my baby. I was going to post something I wrote a long time ago that has nothing to do with anything, but I won’t. Maybe I’ll try automatic or constrained writing. Not today, but maybe another day. And what does this have to do with music? Doesn’t everything have something to do with music? I will stop now because I can. I’ll be back sometime after lunch…

Manolito thinks: “I bet everyone just found out I don’t like the Beatles.”

Manolito, I don’t like the Beatles much either- something wrong with my DNA, I guess.

Every time I say I don’t particularly care for the Beatles, (meaning I just can’t listen to them).. it’s like my skin is covered with a racing black rash and I feel myself being sucked away from the Earth- turned inside out, watching the whole human race shrink, while they pelt me with rotten vegetables as I am ripped off of the planet into Outer Space. I kind of enjoy that feeling. It’s like I’ve done something bad.

I’m glad you posted something otherwise I wouldn’t be able to keep track of the weeks.

p.s. I have a bunch of Mafalda comics from when I was trying to learn Spanish in Argentina.

I just love the expressions of despair on the faces of the children in that comic strip.

Mafalda! i read more comics in mexico than i ever did in the states. thanks for reminding me heids.

i heard “reflections” by the supremes on the radio last week and it made me want to run out and buy a box set but i’m poor. carlos, where do you recommend i start?

  • Carlos Anaconda

Rosa, I’m not sure i can help much. The supremes to me always seemed to be more of a song group than an album group (Love Child and Reflections may be the exeptions). However, i can highly recommend this record, and you get the temptations too.
