Blues, Bloomsday and Father's Day Bling

Blues

This just in from our traveling correspondent* in La la land:

Houston guitar wizard, Aaron Loesch, shakes up the sweat factory guitar world and is now the reigning Guitar Center King of the Blues.

Though among his many cool winnings is a 59' reissue Gibson Les Paul, he won it all with a hacked-up pawn shop acoustic.

Though he's an expert Jaguar mechanic, he's now the proud owner of a 2007 Ford Mustang.

In oddly related news, Chrish stood three feet from Billy Bob Thorton and proclaims him to be on the short side (disclaimer: our roving correspondent stands at six feet five inches, so short may be relative).

Here is footage for the fine folks back home.

Bloomsday

Saturday was the 103rd Anniversay of June 16th, 1904 on which day all of James Joyce's Ulysses takes place. I hope your Bloomsday, like Aaron Loesch's, was fruitful.

Bling

Sunday was Father's Day. I hope all you fathers out there got your deserved bling. Happy Belated Father's Day to Clay, Clinton, John, Ramon, Roberto, Snake, SOV and all the other fathers lingering out there including me (well come late January anyway if all goes well).

Breaking News from Austin!

Houston Press Assistant Music Editor headed your way Stonians.

What what? Come january, you say? Well put on my glasses and pull up my knickers. I've got to get on the tellyphone and call the neighbors and have ourselves a celebratory picnic!

Both of my boys were born in January. Good times. So much to look forward to, like, the after Christmas toy sales for birthdays!

Congratulations!

What a sneaky way to announce your impending fatherhood. I'm so happy for you guys. In my opinion it's the best thing that can happen in life. I can't wait to meet the little critter. Let's repopulate the world with wonderful little people and all the Bushes and Cheneys can go to hell.

(sigh) Nobody was excited for Aaron. Admittedly that youtube Guitar Center clip is as bland as you'd expect and I've seen Aaron more interesting on any given Sunday back in the late 90's but still he stepped up and he beat out contestants from all over the country in a city competition, regionals and national to win it all, including 7 days in a nice studio with Pete Anderson. Considering that Aaron has got the talent and charisma in droves, this really could be a catalyst for him. He's playing in Chicago soon with BB King.

Anyway I trumped him with babies.

But rock on Aaron. I've known this guy for years, since he started showing up at Bloodfart shows. He now lives in my brother's garage apartment. So I know he has worked hard at his playing and this is a deserved win.

Thanks everybody. Soon Tricia and I will enter the secret underground world of baby picture swapping and hand-me down maternity things.

I see Rosa, then curse you all for not posting already. And I suppose you all knew about the new HP asst editor too.

I got the internal HP memo, so yes.

As for the blues guy, I have no idea who Aaron is.

There is no breaking news journalism on the nap because we have to wait for our given day to post. That's it, I'm moving Wednesday to Sunday and Sunday is going where Monday used to be which is now Friday so people have something to look forward to after Wednesday.

Aaron is in Jug O' Lightnin. He's actually much more than just a blues guy. That was the contest so he focused on it but he can play just about anything, and play it on a beat-up acoustic to boot.

I remember who Aaron is...that's awesome for him! Back to the whole trump card thing...we'll have lots more hand-me downs if you have a girl. :) I mean, Roberto and Diane will have to send them once Marina is too big. Now...can we just all figure out where to live so our crazy babies can grow up together!?

Memphis? You sure? I just checked out the property listings on Craigslist...affordable housing. But...are you sure? Shouldn't we just go to a little further to Asheville? By the way, Alexa's due in November with number 3!

Wow number three and possibly a fellow scorpio how nice.

I've heard good things about Asheville would consider it.

Do we need to wear flowers in our hair?

Isn't Asheville, aside from being a new bluegrass hub, a hippie town?

We're waiting for you and Clay to open that B&B. I'll be the lawn care guy. I can also do plumbing, gas, electrical, drywall (bad mudder though), replacement windows, molding and can make a damn good breakfast.
