you know i’ve been trying to remember what it is about that ‘the game’ book that i know, and i just remembered and its not about the book per se, but the whole book/pickup artist thing reminded me of it. A guy i know just got hired by some 50-somethings to pick up girls for them. This guy has the total rock and roll look, rod stewart/richie sambora hair, super tight pants, girl tshirts, leaher belts, boots, you know LA rocker style. Girls flock to him in a way that might make you think he is gay, and he is completely non-discriminating about the girls he hooks up with, pretty much if she’s willing, he’s willing. So now he’s been hired by these middle aged men to be their bait for club girls. They pay him a fortune to go with them to clubs and party all night and pick up girls, it’s really a little sick and a lot bizarre. I wonder if those guys have been reading that book or are trying to be part or are part of that so called seduction community.

Er, I hate to admit this, I saw Knocked Up when I needed something mindless to take my mind off things. The dad/married man character was the one suffering from isolation, lying to his wife about his fantasy football friends while she suspected he was having an affair.

I will try to redeem myself by going to see Rescue Dawn.

Insults and isolation from friends is the great fear of the modern bachelor or so I gather from the current batch of screwball-esque comedies (a la Knocked Up, Forty Year Old Virgin).

I still don't understand how it works. But hopefully the widespread dissemination of this knowledge makes it self-defeating at some point.

try as I might, I can’t make any sense about how said story would work as a key to getting into one’s pants. But given my general lack of comprehension about such things.

I find avoiding social interactions helps greatly in avoiding having things like this happen to me. I make no value judgments on this behavior overall, just saying. Also, watching four movies a day is helpful. (Though perversely, I think I saw more people then than I have this past week since the film fest is up. Most everybody I know in Auckland is also into film.)

Bananarama reminds me of junior high which is about the level of this latest transatlantic rumor-spreading incident. Turns out there was one hopeful (not broken) heart involved and one Goddess on a Mountaintop (my friend). The dude with the hopeful heart concocted a little tale about supposed money-borrowing for drug- dependency purposes by said Goddess in order to somehow win her heart and get into her pants.

All you married people out there, be really happy you’re married. This sort of juvenile shit happens still the time to single people.
