anniversary?

Holy shit! Today is the one-year anniversary of NAP?!

And I don't even have anything earth-shattering to report about this week's events. My friends took me to see Unkle, who I thought I would like but didn't because they were trying to create this overly dramatic epic apocalyptic sound that really wasn't going anywhere with me. It's just the mood I've been in lately.

I suppose it has to do with one client in particular that needs a lot of handholding. The ice melts in the ice-maker and it's as if someone ran over a baby. They can't get their itunes to work or a cable is unplugged and their reaction is to say that "the contractor has totally dismantled their soundsystem."

Meanwhile, I calmly discuss with other clients & contractors how to react when a wall has collapsed, the price of steel has shot through the roof wreaking havoc on the construction budget, how to replace a 6-story elevator shaft that the previous architect had designed to be too small for any known elevator cab, and what strategies can be used with city planning to rezone a half a block from manufacturing to residential.

Amazing how some people can suck all of the air out of a room.

P.S. I think Head Stapler may have linked to this video or posted it before. I will post more videos as my mood improves...

P.P.S. Has anybody downloaded the new Radiohead yet? It's available here. I think I'll do that now- that should improve my mood some.

The first post is dated 10/28, so Doug is the one that will have to come up with something earth shattering.

Heard the new Radiohead, and was as underwhelmed as I have been for years now, unfortunately. I keep hoping for more. It wasn't bad, it just did little for me.

I felt the same way, John, though after a few listens it grew on me. I like it a lot more than Hail to the Thief.

Yeah, I know that one listen isn't fair.

I downloaded the album the other day but haven't given it a listen. I agree with Justin. "Hail to the Thief" kinda sucked. I must say that I did see them during the "Kid A" tour because friend of mine got excellent seats for us and it was one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen.

You mean a fifteen paragraph rambling narrative set on a desert island centered around "U.S. Mill", the most forgettable song on FULL FORCE GALESBURG, isn't going to change your life forever?

I have the new radiohead album. It's pleasant. After two listens, can't say much more than that for it. To be fair, it took me six months to appreciate AMNESIAC, but I think that inaccessibility is not the issue here.

Maybe a further topic should consider time and place with regards to movies or books or music. Some pieces have a time-release quality. Either they slam you over the head in an instant, or they work their way in. I've listened to old albums with a completly different attitude based on current life experiences and felt all was revealed. Rarely does something come this way and knock the top of my head off. (getting older). I am probably wrong again here. Whatever.

I'll answer that with a rhetorical question.

Has there ever been a Mick Jagger solo album worth anyone's time?

Thanks for the reminder about that Radiohead business. I'm going through the site right now, currently queued while they are valuing my "custom".
