NAPcast 39

RAMONA SEZ............

This post has some good news and bad news associated with
it.
Let's start with the bad news...
DD - I lost one of your songs somehow. I'm sorry.
BBODG - I wasn't able to switch songs for you.
I missed Charlie posting, but at least I didn't lose your
song!

The good news...
I could actually do the podcast and that rocks!

Even though once I had loaded Garage Band and was playing
with between 30mb and 300mb of free space for the first
several hours of
trying this out, and then I got wise and moved a lot
of my music off my machine thereby allowing the third
time I built the file to actually work, it was really
fun and easy.

There is an actual mystery on this cast - what Dave
Chappelle is angry about. If you can guess it, maybe
you can win something. We'll see what the people say.
Or, I could just tell you what he's mad about, but
where's the fun in that?

Thanks for letting me play.

Oh, and the artwork is a picture I took a few years
ago in Alpine Texas, which is in far west Texas.
You come up over this hill and you see the tallest
and largest sign ever - in the pristine landscape.
Interesting juxtaposition.

Thanks. I feel bad about mistakenly not deleting one my songs and instead deleting the one song Doug writes his whole post about, but, I guess there will always be more podcasts.

Don't feel bad Ramona. I have done all of those things you listed at least once, and I'll one up you. I have intentionally left music off because I couldn't handle it. I don't remember what music and when, (so don't ask) but I know I've done it probably 2 or 3 times. That's not bad considering there's been almost 40 of these babies.

Good job by the way.

I wanted to ask about the podcast though.

My internet has been super fucked up, so I may be a bad source, but at the Jonx song, the cast started having some clipping. Anyone else get that?

I hope you will cast again my friend!

If anyone is dying to have it, I'll post a YSI with "Twin Human Highway Flares", but I kind of figure everyone either a) has got around to getting the album or b) is sick to fucking death of hearing the Mountain Goats on the podcast. It is one of my favorite songs on the album, but I've always had a bit of trepidation about posting every single song from the album and this is as good a time as any to revisit and see if people care.

HS - Jonx was on the previous episode, unless you mean a different song on this episode? Either way, I haven't noticed any clipping, which I assume means something like skipping.

Sure, I'm up for doing it again sometime in the future. It's fun. I like it.

I especially loved it when my husband said, while listening to it, that he never liked those bands that make songs that sound off key.
I said, you mean those in the minor key?
And I laughed and laughed.

But maybe I'm missing something. Is there a group of bands out there that like to sing off key, doing it on purpose in a kind of punk rock style?
The song I think he was talking about specifically was Kicking Giant's She's Real. Who also sounds a lot like Knife in the Water, btw.

And dd - post what you like. Works for me.

Clipping is actually distortion. The name comes from what happens to the sound when you clip off the top of a wave, making a squarish top, rather than a rounded one.

During Awake's song, was when I heard parts of the song skipping, clipping, flipping me off. Must have been on my end if no one else had that problem.

Great job, Ramona. But nobody has guessed who David Chapelle is blaming?

Who would you blame?

My guess he blames racist sketch artists but I may have heard this bit before so I don't know if that counts as a guess.
