The Culmination

Not much to report. My life is upside down, but I'm working it out. My writing has suffered in a big way as a result. For that I apologize. So I'll just say that I get Doug's concerns about the future of his contributions to this project. My plate is very full. There is much I would love to explore about what is happening in my world, but I simply won't for reasons that also shall remain my own. That may be all I have to say this week. I am working towards movement, and I'm counting on more tomorrows, because I should have a few of those still left in my bag. Writing has been a torch through the wilderness in my recent years, and I am ever grateful for all it has provided me. I have been a poor subject for the exposition of my verbal meanderings, but I have tried hard to respect the medium, and I hope I have given up a little something that gave someone a little moment to stop, and to think, and to put a smile in there, or get pissed, or whatever it is that my writing may do that might connect, in any way, to you.

Lean times, but moving forward.

And music has taken up the lead as writing has suffered humiliation.

So I have listened to, and been rescued by some pretty compelling stuff. The soundtrack to nuclear war.

Baroness, the Red Album.
Cult of Luna
Neurosis, Souls at Zero
Angels of Light, New Mother
Swans, Greed/Holy Money
Led Zeppelin III
Isis
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Abbattoir Blues/the Lyre of Orpheus

There's been more, but these albums, artists, and tracks have all made the path a little smoother, and sometimes that's a fucking godsend.

So, I'm still plugging away...

Madly
Madly
Madly

And the work will return.

And I will burn in the blast furnace, a power source beyond all.

That's all I have to say this week.

Well, okay, except for this.

It is nice getting a little time to spend with Tom Carter, who is here for the Mike Gunn show Sunday night. I think it's going to be pretty fun. I may even show up myself. Just don't tell anyone.

I'm really looking forward to this show. It's gonna be a nice way to cap off graduation weekend.

I second the Baroness appreciation. And of course, Cult of Luna is bad ass, And I like the Isis too, And of course Souls at Zero is fucking awesome... I'm not sure why Helen Reddy is on my iPod... yes, it probably is because of one of the NAP people... but I am pretty sure it wasn't you.

I know when I hung out with Tom. I was referencing the MG show this coming Sunday, the one for which he has arrived.

I have read about that, and thanks for the link. my favorite part of the article was the add for erectile disfunction medicine. Choice.

Who knows, John. Something tells me that there is a Cramer Rennaissance on the horizon. Catharsis, and all that. If the standard John is so fucking soul-baring that people turn away in disgust or stand in rapt adulation in equal measure, maybe it's actually a form of Catharsis for you to be holding back some. I, for one, expect you to unleash the fucking fury on Sunday night. Even so much so that the fury goes backwards through time to last Sunday night, adding fury to what I'm sure was an already furious set at SoundEx (thanks for the info, Rosa, too bad I couldn't make it). I hope you like the piece. Pick up a copy today, and let me know, will you?

Holding back has not been a catharsis. Trust me.

My day, however, looms.

I'll get to you, SoR, on the piece. For now I'll just say well done.
