Some things I wonder about the Nap

  • Is John's uncharacteristic grammar lapse an application of Ramon's blogging views?

  • Were Ramon and I listening to Schulz&Söhne at exactly the same time?
      I dug that too.

  • I instantly liked that shredder guy. What does that say about me?

    • what does that say about you?

        or that other guy?

  • Will the idea of napcast themes take off? If so, how about a *Before and After* cast?

  • Is Dougie Pooh still heading to Chicago this winter?

  • How will Roberto's recording session work out? I want to hear what's going on over there.

Some things going on

  • churchbus performs in Rirkrit Tiravanija’s Rehearsal Studio at 1 PM this Saturday.

  • We're mastering the churchbus Winter Holiday Podcast to bring joy and cheer to the internet masses. Should be up soon.

  • the Sunken Monastery Studio is back in action.

  • With that in mind let me tell you what is on my mind, well aside from Chris King. Can't stop thinking about the man and I want him to heal quickly.

That got me off track because now that's got me thinking about Rick Smith. What the hell happened?

    1. I want to talk about recording.

    2. Back in the thing myself and I need your help.

    3. But studio talk is gonna have to wait.

    4. Got things in my mind like cotton stuffing.

    5. Can't hear or think, man.
      • Anyway

        1. This

      • is

        1. happening

          • now
          • This is for the Kings. Let's get that crown back on quick.

My grammar lapse is probably due more to my life being in complete upheaval more than anything else. I rushed the post, and it shows. So, thanks for the chance at redemption, but no, my bad grammar is entirely due to my head (and heart) being extremely taxed as of late.

The Rick Smith death was horrible news. He was a great guy.

Also sorry to hear about Chris (who I've only met a few times eons ago but remember fondly), and here's to hoping he pulls through okay.

John - Take it easy man - this season can be rough enough on the emotions. Hope all is well.

Carlos - King was in a car accident Friday night. He is currently in a medically induced coma. Outlook could be worse is all I can say at this point. If you want I can send you a link to a site Eddie Hawkins is running to keep his friends and family informed. Email me. Damn, I start to cry...

Also I think you might have known Rick Smith. He's been in Montrose forever. Did some Pirate Radio, did a show on kpft. When I heard about Rick I thought it was a hoax. Still can't believe it. I had just seen him at the Axiom reunion. He came both nights. Will really miss him. Good guy. Funny guy.

about the shredder guy - most likely I missed something big, or just not into music enough to get it.
maybe you could put it into basic words for the non-musicians (me) and I can see it like you can?

I don't think you missed anything big Ramona. From what I've read about you, you seem to have a handle on the big picture. And yeah, I think your line of questioning is on the right track - the shredder might just be something a certain type of guitarist might appreciate, nothing more to it. I think what Carlos and Justin had to say about the shredder is about all there is.

Snake showed them to me a while ago. I watched them once. No need to go back to them repeatedly. Although as a certain type of guitarist I recognize more to the shredder's guitar than cleverness. I don't know, it's like good improv comedy. The comedian must have a natural sense of humor about the big picture (and a certain amount of love for it) to make it work when put on the spot.

Glad you like the Schulz&Söhne.

I like the idea of napcast themes every once in a while. And, I'm especially glad that John opted out of the first one, thereby setting a precedent for not participating if it doesn't one's fancy without offending anyone. Themes are good, but only if not forced.

Will suggest a 'theme' in the comment section of Sig. Anaconda's post a bit later...

mercredi, c'est pas drole.
late to the news... chocked.
I thought more than once about Rick, because of NAP, because this is about Houston and music. He was the one I was reading religiously in the Other, he told me where to go! Thanks again man, (and yes I am still addicted to the music).
