INELUCTABLE MODALITY OF THE VISIBLE: AT LEAST THAT IF NO MORE, yes great grandfather was a hod carrier. No one in this family too educated too removed. Pat is a bricklayer but how many more Irishmen? Not many, Mexican now. Pat has the domestic troubles of an immigrant, the sadness of the arrived. Do away with familial entrapments. Left with what. Freedom for what. Clara is only 3/8th, far removed, fully vested American. Not a hud carrier. Could he have looked like that? Would have been hard to marry again as he did age 60 to a girl of 34. Had to have something to get that. Must have had charm, runs in the family. Stability, could be stability. I think she had some kids already. It was hard in those times. Timmy says to look at the feet and you know what they say, yes big socks. Come a long way since that. Do the Mexicans arrive that fast? I don't know the stats on that one.

| Chicago | |
| o r n e r . . . | Sunday evening we went for a stroll, the first of the year, and ended up at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School a few blocks from our house where the Civic Orchestra of Chicago along with the Allegre Strings were putting on a community concert. |
| The COoC is a farm team for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In that respect it's the only orchestra of its kind. The Allegre Strings is an ensemble made up of "economically challenged" neighborhood kids from the communities that our block connects, Pilsen and Little Village. | |
| These are predominately Mexican communities so it was no surprise that the pieces selected were largely Spanish or Mexican of origin. They even did the Mexican Lindo with all of the little people of the Allegre Strings lining the front of the stage, very cute and not nearly as off pitch as I expected. The Future Mariachi Bands of Chicago farm team is ready. | |
| After the Allegre Strings left the stage, the COoC went through a number of pieces from Iberia by the early Modern composer, Debussy. Well done I'd say and an interesting choice both Sunday night and for Debussy. Debussy, a French composer, only spent one afternoon in Spain to see a bull fight. He was back home in France in time for bed. Yet he felt compelled to write an entire symphony in Spain's honor, one that even Spanish critics find organically reflects their native peat. | |

Interesting.
Are you drunk?
on point.
I guess I better go check out one of those Paternalysses Companions from the library to make sense of this.
Not drunk, in over my head more like it. Does it really read like drunk writing?
It's a tribute to James Joyce's Ulysses. This being the Hibernian month.
Ulysses is broken into three parts. I honored that pattern with three paragraphs each copying a style from one of the episodes in the relevant chapter.
Part I Episode 3 - Proteus
Part II Episode 7 - Aeolus
Part III Episode 18 - Penelope
Sorry Joyce =)
I found it pretty hard to follow on my first reading, but once I figured out the title it all made perfect sense - i couldnt follow Joyce on the first reading either.
I'm sure Joyce was drunk too.
Ah dear, the stereotypes are running fierce in this one. Well, if you read it I'm sure you'll think otherwise ;-)
I can't. Not smart enough. I recognized there was something... literary ... going on, but, that was as far as my brain took me. I prefer thinking everyone's drunk, dismiss it, and move on. Suit?
Oh I moved on. It's not me who is lost =O
I think that should be your comment for EVERY post. "Are you drunk?"
