- Ask me…
- …to sing you a children’s song.
- …to post something related to this week’s project oriented theme.
- …to upload a work-in-process track.
- …to shut up.
- Ask you…
- …Are you a Home Recorder? If so, can I give you a project?
- …How’s my driving?
- …Does the purpose of this site suit your needs?
- …What is a blog?
- …If there really were eight days a week, would this be a good thing?

Fancy.
Ok, “Ask Me”: choosing option #5:
Work on redesigning our site. if you have time to do a fancy little box like that, i would think you could redesign this site in about a day or less. I say go for it, change the look, the sidebars, layout, whatever… do it and let the chips fall where they may.
If you dont want to do an option that is not one of the ones you offered, then go with option 2.
“Ask You”: I am a home recorder, give me a project, but don’t make it to involved and don’t expect much.
I second Anaconda’s first request, and I also wouldn’t mind hearing you sing a children’s song.
I’m in to the layout idea but it is more time. Maybe little by little?
Carlos – I would like you to record a minute (or so) of music on an instrument you have never played before. I would like that track and permission to use it as I see fit. How about a delivery date of two weeks from today?
Ms. Unspeakable – your song.
Thanks for participating =)
I vote for a work in progess song.
hmm, an instrument i’ve never played before? there really arent many that i havent played with that are within reach, without having to spend money… if you mean, played well, then thats another story, then the choices are infinite… or maybe you mean an instrument i’ve never played for a recording…
about the site, how much time you think you need?
Ramon – I’ll get on that. Meant to have it ready last night but Clara needed me.
Carlos – think about the instrument a bit and if you can’t come up with one then an instrument you’ve never recorded before is a good second choice.
As far as the site change, layout-wise it wouldn’t take be too difficult – trouble being I don’t have clear idea of how to change it. Although I do like the idea of cleaning up the right-side navbar maybe make all those links on the side drop-downs.
It would be cool to change the logo. I like it, but just in the sense of wanting a change. I’d ask that somebody else give a stab at that. We’ve got some great graphic artists in the bunch.
We could have a top navbar but I’m not exactly sure what to put in that. Could be links to our respective project sites or our facebook entries or something. Maybe a search tool. Link to our podcast. Flickr group, youtube group…
I’d like to add a Recent Comments bit like you see on boingboing.net but then we’re getting into database access and that means research and possibly a move to a blogging tool we can control more.
An option to subscribe to comments via RSS could be nice.
I would personally like to see the whole thing overhauled and moved away from Blogger. Also, I ‘d like a pony.
For the last time Justin you’re not getting a pony. Now get back to work.
Yes me, you and any other volunteers should start a thread this week about how we want the overhaul to go. We’ve got the blessing of the others to do this so enough talk I guess.
So Ramona – you mean rss so you can follow the comments of a particular post? Not a bad idea.
good post, W. I’ll give actual feedback when I get off work.
Ramon – here is a study from the project I am currently working on.
Created the song, using a process similar to Charlie’s Process Music.
This one is a study in layering, rhythm and sound. Not where I want it but glad to give it to you for review.
I’m slow. Is something supposed to happen other than a redirect to the comment page when I click an option? Is this a Firefox thing? Or are you getting votes via e-mail per each click?
I lied. I have no good feedback to give. Sorry.
Na, nothing that fancy just takes the clicker to the comments page.
Yes. That way you can tell if any comments are posted without actually checking inside each post. Good for any that have drifted off the main page, too. So, you know, it should just be the same kind of link as adding it to your rss reader, but one for comments. Wait, do we have one that adds it to the rss reader for the main columns?
You can set up an rss feed for nap – the links are on the front page. But not to keep track of the comments.
I think posting recent comments in the margin might give you what you’re looking for.
Take a look at how boingboing does it or the Houston Punk Archives (which actually looks like crap right now on account of a huge letter from my friend Mark Mentality about his commercialization of US politics, jeesh.)
What both the BoingBoing and HoustonPunk comment feed lack is a mention of which post they are responding to.
Also, it would be awesome if comments were threaded.
You can see what boingboing page your going to in the Status bar but yeah we could make it more obvious. I like threads too.
wednesday is in love with boing boing.
now, I subscribe to other blogs comments, and I’ve set them up for my company’s internal blog. so what’s up?
of course, if no one cares, no big deal.
Stacey – post a link to a blog site that does what you want.
I mean if it’s not some fetish blog you’re too embarassed to share. I know your type.
what ever
ok, here’s a friend’s blog:
http://www.parham.org/
notice at the top, the two choices for rss reads, the blog, and the comments.
meanwhile, I’m going to attempt to dissect your code and work my rusty dhtml skills. do they even call it that anymore?
Actually blogger claims to allow comment (and individual post comment) feeds. I tried to add that here following their online instructions but it didn’t take. Maybe the site would need a full re-publishing.
Anyway since we’re planning a full overhaul I’m not going to worry about the blogger config just now.
Also Stacey I know a couple who might dig that parham blog.
Wed, I’m not readily running into instruments I have not played before without getting creative about the parameters… I’ll keep thinking about it, but i might need more time… i wish i knew someone with a heckelphone… we might have to settle for an instrument I havent played much before/never recorded before.
Also, that’s a nice little Brillo tune. I enjoyed it, at the very very beginning though I thought you were quoting the Breeders.
