In honor of my laptop being stolen hours ago when my house was broken into, I’m not posting today. If somebody wants to, run with it.
If the sine wave continues to oscillate like this, next week will be freaking amazing.

dd, your non-post counts as a post because you a) posted and b) mentioned a sine wave.
Man, that sucks about your house. I will no longer imagine new zealand as a crime free utopia.
That does suck. Leaves us in the same boat though – my home computer is near dead. Not sure what replacement to get, tempted to go Mac.
doug,
that blows and I am sorry. If it makes you feel any better, when I was a poor country child, robbers who were tree trimmers in disguise broke into my family’s trailer and stole our Atari and some of my toys. Looking back at this comment as I write it, makes me realize that I am doing absolutely nothing to improve this situation for you…
I hope that you didn’t lose too much personal and unreclaimable information and property there. If you think you MIGHT know who did it, and you want to enact some kind of distant vengeance and I can help… let me know. I would be more than happy to throw some digital bricks through some digital windows on your behalf…
Man, having been had my home broken into twice now I know how much that sucks.
Did you have renter’s insurance?
sorry to hear that. i don’t know what’s worse, though, continually breaking shit or having it stolen. at least, if it’s stolen, you can blame it on someone else and maybe collect on insurance. if, however, you get impatient while defrosting the freezer compartment of your under-the-counter refrigerator (because that’s all that will fit into a tiny kitchen in a brooklyn apt) and decide to speed up the process by chipping out an ice block with a hammer and screwdriver, and then accidentally puncture one of the pressurized freon lines with the screwdriver only to have freon shoot out and into your face, you will find that you have no one else to blame but yourself.
that said, a refrigerator is much easier to replace than a computer, especially if the data on that computer isn’t backed up anywhere else. good luck.
thanks, all. I do have renter’s insurance; it’s the data from the last few months since my last proper backup (my invoicing and tax details for the last couple months, notes on screenplays, lots of other stuff) and the sickmaking knowledge that there’s easily enough data on there to conduct a thorough identify theft should one choose to do so that really hurts.
Plus you know that violated feeling of feeling completely insecure in your own home.
yeah, identity theft trumps melted ice cream.
