You did? wow. La Chacon must be going on 60. Maybe i’ll write a post on vedettes. She was queen of the vedettes. Is vedette a word in english? in spanish it means a glorified vegas chorus line type performer. You know, lots of sequins, lots of skin showing, big feather on their hair, but they perform alone and usually sing as well as dance. They look like drag queens, but are women. turn on Univision late at night an you’ll most likely catch one.

That bossacucanova is pretty cool.

Elis Regina seems to find that same thing amusing every time she performs that song. And I don’t care if Sérgio Mendes is the Brazilian Lawrence Welk, he’s still awesome–even if he doesn’t play accordion and there are no bubbles.
