That sounds like Oregon - are all the gas stations full service too so the hillbillies can get jobs?

Pretty much you can buy alcohol to go anywhere here 24/7 (even bars can get a license to sell take-out) except gas stations which makes sense but was hard to get used to coming up from Texas.

In NC you can't have happy hour specials or ladies night specials or anything like that. Everyone gets the same price all day, so yeah, we get all day specials too.

Here the only places allowed to sell liquor to take (bottles for people to take home and bars, restaurants, etc to sell) are the ABC stores. So the state has a monopoly on liquor sales and they mark up the hell out of it.

I think you told me about that membership thing before and I forgot.

They have a strange law here where bars can't have Happy Hour specials. So instead bars have all night specials.

And at the grocery store if the cashier is underage they would have you the customer swipe the alcohol over the barcode scanner. I think they stopped that one. That was really stupid.

Right now the plan is to finish the record, and play a few shows to warm up for the record release. I hope we can tour, but it's hard to say in what shape and form that would happen. With any luck we'll be able to play chicago again.

the membership fee situation has to do with local ABC laws. Any place that gets more than, I think, 40 or 50% of their income from liquor sales has to be a private club to operate (this doesnt count if you sell only beer/wine). So in order to drink at these regular bars, you either have to buy a membership or be a guest of a member. I've seen memberships vary between $.01 to $10. They are always lifetime memberships as far as what I've encountered, and you will always find someone to sign you in as their guest. As much as it is annoying the grip that the ABC has on the state, this system actually works as a nice ice-breaker for new people who pretty much immediately have to meet the person who signs them in and if they are nice enough, they'll buy that person a drink as a thank you, and so on.

As for the secretiveness of the Reservoir, there is none, i have no idea what they're talking about. It's just kind of tucked in out of the way, so unlike most of the other bars, one doesnt drive by it every day, and its also fairly new (going on 4 years).

Awesome love to be there for one of those shows. Any plans for a tour?

It says on their website that the Reservoir is Carrboro's best kept secret. Aren't there only like five people in your town?

I thought it weird that they quote this guy who says the Reservoir's "membership fee" is a one time thing and that "there are no stupid gimmicks" but uh, what's with the "membership fee?" Do you have to carry a card?
