Apologies all around.

Hi Conor – here’s something (from cherry blossom)…
One of my colleagues at the media lab and his friend built a robotic music machine called Quartet (sponsored by Absolut vodka). A human user enters a short musical theme on the internet, and the machine creates a three minute piece based on the theme and performs it on its 3 robotic instruments: a series of precisely launched balls that hit a marimba, a set of spinning glasses that are stroked by rubber “fingers”, and a 9-piece percussion robot. The machine also records video of the song, edits it, and then sends it back to the original human participant over the internet.
It’s beautiful! Here are 3 videos. One from their opening in New York, a promotional video showing a song, and a third video of a song by Sabina from Brazilian Girls called Sexy Machine.

i hear you. if you want, i can offer a little candy: video of a project called quartet.
Thanks for the save. I was going to post something real, then got too tired and was going to at least post some youtube videos, but eventually there didn’t seem to be much point, as even describing the videos seemed like it would be too difficult.
That quartet thing is pretty impressive. The corporate sponsorship angle is a little strange, but I suppose that’s the way the world works. I do like it when girls sing “Sexy Machine”, though, heh.
yeah, if she hadn’t done it, i might have.
oops, sorry about misspelling your name. fixed it.
