And you do suck but you’ll probably listen anyway because you don’t know it. But this wasn’t an exclusitory remark; this was a warning because some where in hear you’re gonna realize that you suck.
Big Time.

Me and the boys get together up at the space on Friday nights, call it Freaky Fridays of course.
We make soundscapes and sometimes try to use video too.
Usually one of us will shoot off an email during the week with a game plan for Freaky Friday –some set of rules we can use or break.
This week I sent this:
Groove Loops
- Figure out all the different ways we have at the studio to create loops and samples.
- Set up these means of creating loops and samples.
- Create three pieces either in a one-man band style where one person at a time creates a song by looping several instruments OR by each of us creating a loop that gets combined with each other’s creations.
- Ideally, in my mind, this wouldn’t be all digital. Would be great to create samples from acoustic instruments -even drums! (I’ve seen that done live before).
Question – what means do we have at our disposal for creating acoustic instrument loops?
It’s an old idea, I know. Hell, Drums And Tuba was doing some wicked stuff playing over themselves live (even looping their drums) over a decade ago. But for me, there’s still some exploring to do. I’m especially interested in getting the acoustic sounds looped. Anybody have any advice in this arena?

The best I’ve ever seen play with loops was Jon Brion. I don’t throw this description around lightly, but that guy is a damn genius. See here.
That is a w e s o m e.
He plays regular shows at Largo in L.A., so if you’re in the greater Los Angeles area, you should definitely see him.
And you said nobody should cover Zeppelin. I think Jon Brion, Dred Zeppelin and Lez Zeppelin should all cover Led Zeppelin. This being at the top of the list.
I know you’re going to point out that you said Festival Bands shouldn’t play Zeppelin but that is because you suck.
I know. I do suck.
I suck, but I’m still listening to your podcasts. We need to do more podcasts. Maybe I’ll do one.
mrshl – I’m glad you do and I hope you do and you don’t because you know you do.
So if I suck and I do know it, then I don’t have to listen? phew, for a minute I thought i was going to have to pay attention and hit buttons or something difficult like that.
You suck!
