I have busy preparing for the San Francisco Mixtape Society event, even though it isn’t until next year. The theme will be Cities vs. Towns.
I have a few playlists in iTunes which are still in the song dump phase. This means that I add songs to them whenever I come across a tune that is relevant to the theme I’m hoping to create. These themes include: cats, songs prominently featuring stringed instruments, clothes, awkward years and New York City.
But it’s been a while since the last mixtape I made for fun and for myself, rather than for one of my clients: directors, producers, people who make ads, people who make films.
As you can see from the track listing below, my last mixtape didn’t really have a theme. If I don’t make another mixtape between now and the party in January, at least I know that my next one will.
Charades En NingĂșn Lugar
Land Of Talk All My Friends
Bettie Serveert Don’t Touch That Dial!
Tahiti 80 Hey Joe
Leilujh Rockslide
The Twin Atlas Roll On
Kelley Stoltz Jewel of the Evening
Snowden Victim Card
Brown Shoe The War
Elbow Grounds For Divorce
Starfucker Jupiter
One Second Bridge Ventana
Oldboy OST The Old Boy
Xu Xu Fang Your Way
Winterpills Beesting
I dont think i’ve heard a single one of those sonsg. It would’ve been good if you could’ve posted a podcast with them.
I am totally preparing a mixtape for a new friend of mine right now; it will also be the subject of my blog post. Great minds think alike, I suppose. I’m going full-blown program notes in an attempt to cover my insecurities with words. I’d also like to get copies of this stuff. Wave?
I’m not really sure how to do the podcast thing, but I will look into it!
Perhaps I will post eMusic links next time or iTunes purchase links.
