One of the best, if not THE best things I've downloaded this year was Cohen's <a href="http://www.lala.com/#album/504684633539813458/Leonard_Cohen/Live_In_London" title="" rel="nofollow">Live in London</a> set. I hate live records, but this felt just as intimate as you say. You can hear him breathing into the microphone and every note the band plays is audible and discrete. So jealous.
