Relatively inexpensive means of controlling an environment.
Simple stuff, endless possibilities.
Open source real-time audio programming language. Might only mean something to tech nerds right now but it is a new approach to writing music. In this demo below, the “music” you hear is being created by a computer program that is being altered in real-time (“live coding”).
I love this early “new world” type stuff. The author writes “this does not go well and it gets very loud at times sorry folks.”
I don’t understand the point of the live coding. You know what works really well as a real time interface? A knob. Live coding just seems incredibly inefficient and isn’t an improvement on a knob.
The chuck platform leaves a lot to be desired but I’m excited about the prospects as a coder.
In software developer world there are a myriad ways to do stuff. Take Flash for example: you can take a very visual approach to building in Flash or you can use their coding language. The coding language ultimately is a lot more powerful and also allows for a lot of shortcuts or global changes.
It’s a different approach not necessarily a better one but it will certainly result in different outcomes. I think if you did this stuff for a while you would always be able to tell what was performed by live coding versus a knob (for example).
