Peruvian rock and roll. This is where I would start the histories of rock in Latin America and rock en Español. They were around for only a couple of years, released six 45s and then stopped playing. Here’s the wiki entry, it’s concise and the point. And listen to Demolicion, a song about demolishing [...] Not sure what happened to Week 161… but… Talk about hidden gems. Los Albas were a somewhat cheesy rock band from Spain in the late 60s early 70s. They had a solid beat, but they favored chorused vocals with the cheesiest of pop melodies. Like a lot of the best/worst pop music [...] I’ve been diving into the darker corners of rock en español. Famous Jonny Mambo asked me to do a one time set of rock psicodelico en español on his Mojo Ballroom show on WCOM. So in preparation I’ve been digging deep into the dusty sections of my collection and crawling through the greasy [...] We were talking about how we store our music. We currently have vinyl and CDs in several locations throughout the house. There is also a crate full of cassettes in one of the closets. There are several computers with almost, but not quite the same selection of MP3s in them. And several Ipods also with [...] Went to see Leonard Cohen. Had tremenda noche. Amazing really. Then it was Sonic Youth which I think was the last band about which I could fairly call myself to have been a fan. [...] [...] To me the Beatles will always be John Lennon. I know they each had their personalities and each personality contributed to the whole that was the Beatles, but to me it was always John’s band.
