Apologies all around. Although I had of course heard bits and pieces of it, before my freshman year at Rice I had never heard Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech in its entirety. There wasn’t a dry eye in the class after my humanities professor played a cassette of it. If you’ve never [...] I apologize, I’ve got nothing for you today, apart from a link to a post on MetaFilter about the notorious Hungarian song, “Gloomy Sunday“. I will be up in the air today, so I give you a song from The Telescopes self-titled album, one of my favorites of all time. I like to say that I’m a theoretical [...] Been listening to the Sundazed reissue of Moby Grape’s Truly Fine Citizen, supposedly one of their worst albums, over and over on repeat. Some albums just work that way, I’m not sure why. “Looper” will be on the next ConorMix. There’s not much footage of the Grape out there. Here’s some [...] Sorry, not really feeling it today. Have been listening to Drop Nineteens Delaware all day long. They do a great cover of Madonna’s “Angel”:Here’s a silly video they made for another song: A cool place called the Wulf, across the street from a strip club with neon signage, in a neighborhood that very much reminded me of Houston’s warehouse district. I was one of three audience members.Photocell equipped audio installation art on the wall. After the muzak, we hung out on the roof, which was decked out [...] |
