I have a 60 GB iPod crammed with stuff, but I hardly ever use it. Basically it only gets some love when I go on trips. I have a lot of old favorites on there, but probably a higher percentage is comprised by stuff I’ve downloaded that I feel I should listen to at [...] A couple weeks ago, CNN asked about “What Grace Slick is doing now“, checking in with her for the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. The usual sort of thing, until you get to the end, where she’s asked “Who are you listening to these days?”, and the reply is (shudder) “I like Daughtry, I like [...] Played a show for the first time in over a year, at my friends’ art party. There were a few older type folks in the room I set up in, admiring my keyboard and unhelpfully trying to help me set up (um, thanks but no…). In the meantime, I’ve been getting into Joe Jackson. Checked out his Greatest Hits CD from the library. My dad had a cassette tape of Night and Day back in the day (har har, I mean, 1982), so I’m definitely more partial to the two songs from that [...] I wasn’t sure what to think of all the recent hype regarding the (possible) new Apple iTablet or iTouch Tablet or iWhateverItIs. It’s long been a rumor, frequently dashed, but things have recently picked up a great deal of steam and suddenly, reputable sources are claiming it will happen this Fall or early next [...] Been listening to The Knife all day. Swedish brother/sister electronic duo. Karin Dreijer Andersson female, Olof Dreijer male. Sweden, land of ice, lack of sun, cold, snow, beautiful women, feelings of alienation. The Knife, retro & futurist, accessible but experimental, warm + ice cold. A strange fit for modern times.
